Criminal Justice System

Our current criminal justice system sucks.  We've got people out walking around that should be in jail or dead.  We've got people in jail that should not be there.  Our jails are overcrowd.  Our court system is just a paper chase and we're pissed off about it.

There should be no jail/prison sentence less than one year or greater than five.

People committing minor violations or those who cannot afford to pay their fines should be placed in community service or work release programs.  more

Major violations or repeat offends should have a one to five year sentence, with work release, and probation service near to end to work them back into the community.  more

Inexcusable violations should be dealt with within days not years.  more

The Miranda Warning should be limited to a one time requirement.

Do away with plea bargaining for crimes, but still allow it for forfeiture violations.  Plea bargaining allows a person who actually committed a crime to get a break and the much worse side is that it encourages someone who really didn't commit the crime to accept a bad situation for something they didn't do.  more

People arrested in the act of committing a felony or arrested on a warrant for committing felony; in either case where they are facing the one to five years in prison or the death sentence, they should remain in jail until their trial.  more

Do away with the part of the juvenile code that protects the privacy of juvenile criminals.  Let the public know about these dangerous kids and who is hanging with the gangs.
